I am a web designer with a wife and kids. We all have wild imaginations that generate creative ideas. But I am also a problem solver, with a very logical mind. My wife has told me I have a brain bridge that connects my logical side with my artistic side – giving me a unique blend of logic and artistry.

Santa Started It

Originally, this site started as a place where parents could order Letters From Santa. We enjoyed a decent season, sending a lot of joy and holiday spirit into people’s homes. But, then January came, and then what?

Jaws Coming Out of My Closet

My parents took me to a drive-in movie theater in 1975 to see Jaws. I was four years old. For the next ten years, I hid under my blankets, thinking Jaws was going to come flying out of my closet and rip my face off.

Solution

I figured a lot of kids had similar experiences with monsters in their closet or under their bed. I thought – wouldn’t it be nice if the monster wrote them a letter? The monster could tell them that he is friendly and that there was no reason to be afraid. So, I added letters from monsters.

Behavior and Nostalgia

Hmm… a monster teaching a kid a lesson? Interesting concept. That made me think… even better would be a hero or a favorite cartoon character teaching them a lesson. Some kids hate brushing their teeth. Some kids fight with their siblings. Some kids won’t eat their vegetables. So, what if their hero sent them a letter teaching them an important lesson and encouraging them to do better? Maybe that just might change their behavior. And, what kid doesn’t love to receive a letter in the mail? Not some cruddy e-mail or Snapchat.. this is a real, tangible letter they get to rip open.
